Thanks for stopping by my crazy little web journal!
Hope you find something here to make you smile.
I know I have been a bad blogger, but I am on mental holiday right now, trying to recouperate from the holiday and all that goes with it!
I was SO HAPPY to take down the tree yesterday and get everything packed up. I was even happier taking it down than I was putting it up. If you know me at all well, you would just chalk that up as a normality. Bob promised me that he would bring the stuff up to the attic when he got home, but since he wasn't feeling well after a hard day of work, it's all still sitting in my livingroom. All 7 boxes of it. I won't feel better until it's out of sight. Hopefully, he will get it up there on Saturday. I got three new books with my Barnes and Nobles gift card that I got for Christmas, and I am mostly done with one book and excited to move on to the other two. I haven't felt much like doing a whole lot, and every time I seem to relax and try to read my book, I doze off. I had two days off in a row and I should have had at least one of them finished by now.
I am really getting psyched about the sequel to the da Vinci Code, called the Solomon Key. I can't wait until that comes out. When I finish my three books I just got, I plan to read the da Vinci Code again, just for a refresher. Normally, I am not much of a fiction fan, I prefer Non-fiction books or true crime, but Dan Brown really sucked me in. I tried a couple times to read Angels & Demons, but I can't get into it. Maybe once I finish all these other books and have nothing else to read, I will give it another whirl.
Anyway, I had a major meltdown to deal with this afternoon, with Joe, believe it or not. Usually he is the reserved one. That is, until someone goes and ruins his life. Well, how dare the school principal notify all the kids today, that they are no longer allowed to bring ANY toys to school! After all, that's what they are there for, isn't it? To play with toys all day? Sheesh. What was he thinking. Joe has always brought toys to school, and on a very rare occasion did he have to be talked to about playing with them at the wrong time. Mostly, he brought one of he action figures to play with at play time, or just to decorate his desk while he worked. I never had a problem with that, since Joe has always held his toys in very high regard and has taken good care of them. Well, evidentally, something must have happened to make the principal take away that priveledge. To top it all off, Joe came home expecting me, the Gestapo, to call up the guy and tell him where it was at, and make him rescind the whole thing. YEAH, right. He is so used to his mother standing up for everyone, and confronting people when there is an injustice, he just thought I was going to ring the old man up and tell him off. WRONG! According to Joe, his whole life is ruined, and despite the fact that there are only a few months left to the school year, it still is buggin' him out. SO, rather than brush it off like it's no big deal, I am going to play Devil's Advocate, just not by calling and cussing out the principal.
We decided tonight at dinner, with Joe's best friend, that we are going to make a proposal, and make up a petition. Joe's proposal, will suggest to the principal, they they be allowed to bring their toys one day a week, to play with during recreation time. I suggested Friday, since most kids don't have any kind of concentration at the end of the week ANYWAY. Joe will suggest some guidelines, and state that any toys brought, will be at the risk of their owners. Then he will get signatures from fellow peers, who are willing to accept the terms, but would like to support Joe in his effort to reverse the ruling, for one day a week. At the very least, I suspect that his efforts will be appreciated, especially since he is doing it in a proper manner. I plan to help him do this over the weekend. If nothing else, the principal will have to at least CONSIDER it. What do you think of the idea? Any suggestions on how we might make this better? I am open to suggestions.
Well, I have to jet. Deena needs me to help her put on her press on nails.
As a final note though, I am very happy to announce that my friend "KK" who has been serving in the Army and stationed in Iraq, for his second tour, will be leaving to come home, tomorrow, I believe. I am so happy that he has managed to keep himself safe over there, despite the danger he faced, for a second year. He was injured the last time he was there, but thankfully nothing too serious. I pray he has a safe and speedy return back to the States.
Ta-ta for now,
Colleen
Fight the power Colleen, I don't see why it should be a problem for kids to bring toys to school. Whats next, a ban on drugs?
